Acipenser Ruthenus
Acipenser ruthenus, also called the Danube sturgeon or sterlet, is a species of freshwater fish found in the Danube River basin, which includes some of Croatia.
At lengths up to 1 meter, the Danube sturgeon is a species of sturgeon that is relatively tiny. With a grayish-brown back and silvery sides, it has a distinctly elongated body form. It is a bottom-dwelling fish that consumes various tiny fish and invertebrates.
Overfishing, habitat loss, and pollution are all factors contributing to the Danube sturgeon's status as an endangered species. Implementing fishing restrictions, undertaking habitat restoration initiatives, and establishing protected areas are among conservation measures taken to safeguard the species.
