Acipenser Sturio

At the end of the 19th century, the Acipenser sturio was one of the most common sturgeons, and its numbers have drastically decreased in the last 30 years or so.

Today, Acipenser sturio populations are depleted, so they are threatened with extinction in the entire distribution area. The main reason for the drastic decline in the number of Acipenser sturio is overfishing.

It was already a serious problem at the beginning of the 19th century, but the situation further worsened with the establishment of large ship factories.
