Carassius Carassius
Freshwater fish species Carassius carassius, sometimes referred to as the crucian carp, are indigenous to Europe, especially Croatia. This species is referred to as "uklija" or "zlatna ribica" in Croatia, which both mean "golden fish."
In Croatia, Carassius carassius can be found in lakes, ponds, slow-moving rivers and streams, and other freshwater habitats. They favor water that is stationary or moving slowly and has a lot of aquatic flora. Being omnivores, these fish consume a range of foods, such as algae, insects, crabs, and tiny fish.
Carassius carassius is regarded as a common game fish in Croatia and is frequently pursued by amateur fishermen. Although crucian carp populations are generally steady in Croatia, factors including habitat loss, pollution, and overfishing can have an effect on regional populations.
