Hydrocotyle vulgaris

Hydrocotyle vulgaris, commonly known as common pennywort, is a charming aquatic plant found in Croatia’s wetlands, marshes, and along riverbanks.

Recognised for its round, glossy leaves and delicate white flowers, it thrives in damp, shaded environments, contributing to the richness of wetland ecosystems.

Though relatively resilient, Hydrocotyle vulgaris faces threats from habitat degradation and climate change. Protecting wetlands and freshwater habitats is essential to ensuring the continued survival of this unique plant and preserving Croatia’s biodiversity.
