Podarcis muralis
Podarcis muralis, or the common wall lizard, is one of the most widely distributed reptiles in Croatia, found in rocky walls, old ruins, and sunlit gardens.
Known for its adaptability, this lizard is easily recognisable by its slender body and vibrant green or brown colouring, with some individuals displaying striking blue spots.
While Podarcis muralis is relatively common, it still faces threats from habitat loss due to urban development. Preserving its natural environment is crucial to maintaining the balance of Croatia's diverse ecosystems and protecting this remarkable species.
