Salmo Farioides

A freshwater fish species called Salmo farioides, also referred to as the Adriatic trout or the softmouth trout, is endemic to the Adriatic basin, which includes Croatia's rivers and streams.

The Adriatic trout can grow up to 50 centimeters in length, making it a sizeable fish. With a back that ranges from dark green to greyish brown, silvery sides, and numerous black spots all over its body, it has a striking appearance. It is a predatory fish that eats various insects, crabs, and tiny fish.

Due to overfishing, pollution, and the destruction of its habitat, the Adriatic trout is now regarded as an endangered species. The establishment of protected areas, the enforcement of fishing restrictions, and habitat restoration initiatives are all part of the conservation efforts to safeguard the species.
