Salmo Zrmanjaensis

Freshwater fish Salmo zrmanjaensis, also referred to as the Zrmanja trout, are unique to Croatia's Zrmanja River.

Adult Zrmanja trout typically grow to a length of up to 20 cm, making them a small fish. It features a silvery back and sides with a brownish-green back, black dots, and an orange-red underbelly. It is a predatory fish that consumes tiny fish, crabs, and insects.

Due to overfishing, pollution, and the destruction of its habitat, the Zrmanja trout is regarded as an endangered species. Fishing restrictions, habitat restoration initiatives, and the establishment of protected areas are all part of the species' conservation efforts.
